FAQs
What is a Holistique Breathesuite?
A Holistique Breathesuite is a private HaloSauna experience that pairs the deep-penetrating warmth of far-infrared heat with the therapeutic atmosphere of halotherapy (salt therapy) and the rejuvenating power of red light therapy. A medical-grade halogenerator fills the space with microscopic salt particles, supporting respiratory health, clearer skin, and a sense of calm, while infrared heat works to stimulate circulation, detoxification, and muscle recovery. Red light therapy completes the experience by enhancing cellular repair and vitality at the mitochondrial level. Together, these three modalities create a full-spectrum wellness session rooted in both modern science and time-honored healing traditions.

What is an infrared sauna and what are the benefits?
An infrared sauna is a modern twist on the traditional sauna. Instead of heating the air around you with steam or hot stones, infrared saunas use infrared light waves to gently warm your body directly. Think of it as sunshine without the UV rays...heat that penetrates more deeply into your muscles and tissues, while the air itself stays cooler and more comfortable.
Key Benefits of Infrared Saunas
1. Detoxification
Sweating is your body’s natural way of flushing out toxins. Infrared heat encourages a deep, healthy sweat that may help release heavy metals and other impurities stored in tissues.
2. Improved Circulation
The gentle heat boosts blood flow, much like a light cardio workout, which helps oxygenate cells, support healing, and promote overall cardiovascular health.
3. Muscle & Joint Relief
Infrared warmth penetrates into soft tissue, soothing sore muscles, easing joint stiffness, and calming inflammation. Athletes, arthritis warriors, and weekend gardeners all say “thank you.”
4. Relaxation & Stress Reduction
The deep, enveloping heat triggers your parasympathetic nervous system (“rest and digest” mode). Many people leave sessions feeling calmer, lighter, and more balanced—like hitting a reset button for the mind.
5. Skin Health & Radiance
By increasing circulation and encouraging sweat, infrared sessions can help clear pores, improve tone, and give skin that post-sauna glow.
6. Weight Management Support
Your heart rate and metabolic rate gently rise in an infrared sauna, burning calories while you sit in peaceful stillness.
7. Better Sleep
Deep relaxation + muscle ease + nervous system calm = improved sleep quality. Many find they drift off more easily after sessions.
Infrared saunas offer the same age-old benefits of traditional saunas, but with a gentler, more targeted heat that many people find easier to tolerate. It’s like cozying up in healing sunshine that works from the inside out.
What is salt therapy and what are the benefits?
Salt therapy—also called halotherapy (from the Greek word halos, meaning “salt”)—is a natural wellness practice that involves breathing in microscopic salt particles in a controlled environment. Typically, this happens in a salt room or salt cave, where the air is infused with dry salt through a special generator.
It’s designed to mimic the microclimate of natural salt caves, which have been used for centuries in Europe for their restorative effects on the lungs, skin, and overall well-being.
Key Benefits of Salt Therapy
1. Respiratory Health
Salt is naturally anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.
Inhaled particles may help clear mucus, reduce irritation, and open the airways.
Beneficial for people with asthma, allergies, sinus issues, bronchitis, or anyone who just wants to breathe a little easier.
2. Immune Support
Cleaner lungs = stronger defense.
By reducing congestion and supporting healthy respiratory function, salt therapy may help the body ward off seasonal bugs more effectively.
3. Skin Health
Salt’s purifying and anti-inflammatory qualities can support clearer, calmer skin.
May help soothe eczema, psoriasis, and acne while promoting a healthy glow.
4. Stress Relief & Relaxation
Salt rooms are peaceful, quiet, and meditative spaces.
The negative ions in salt are believed to promote a sense of well-being, balance mood, and reduce stress.
5. Improved Sleep
Clearer airways + deeper relaxation = better rest.
Many find salt sessions prepare them for a more restful night’s sleep.
Salt therapy offers a gentle, natural way to support respiratory wellness, skin health, and stress relief. Think of it as a breath of fresh sea air—without the sand in your shoes.
What is red-light therapy and what are the benefits?
Red-light therapy (sometimes called low-level light therapy photo-biomodulation), a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. Unlike UV rays, which can damage the skin, red light is gentle and penetrates deep into your cells, stimulating energy production and natural healing processes.
It’s like giving your body a boost of “cellular sunshine” without the burn.
Key Benefits of Red-Light Therapy
1. Skin Rejuvenation
Boosts collagen and elastin production, helping reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Promotes wound healing, reduces scars, and supports clearer, healthier skin.
2. Pain Relief & Recovery
Penetrates into muscles and joints to ease inflammation and stiffness.
Supports recovery from injuries, arthritis, or everyday soreness.
3. Cellular Energy
Red light stimulates mitochondria (the “powerhouses” of your cells).
More cellular energy = better repair, regeneration, and resilience.
4. Improved Circulation
Increases blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients more efficiently.
Helps speed recovery while flushing out waste products.
5. Mood & Mental Clarity
Exposure to red and near-infrared light may help regulate circadian rhythms.
Some studies suggest it supports improved mood, focus, and reduced symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
6. Hair Growth Support
Stimulates hair follicles, potentially aiding in thicker, stronger hair over time.
Red-light therapy is a safe, soothing, and scientifically backed way to support skin health, recovery, energy, and overall vitality. It doesn’t just work on the surface—it works at the cellular level to help your body function at its best.
Are there important health considerations when using heated services and infrared saunas?
Yes, and we take safety seriously. Your client agreement includes your acknowledgment of these considerations, and the full manufacturer guidelines are posted in the studio and available from our team upon request.
Who should consult a physician before using the Breathesuite:
Individuals with cardiovascular conditions, including but not limited to high or low blood pressure, congestive heart failure, history of stroke, angina, atherosclerosis, aneurism, or congenital heart disease
Pregnant or nursing women
Elderly individuals, particularly those with circulatory conditions or reduced sweat gland function
Children, whose core body temperature rises significantly faster than adults due to higher metabolic rate and limited ability to regulate heat through sweating
Individuals with conditions that impair the ability to sweat, including Multiple Sclerosis, diabetic neuropathy, and Central Nervous System tumors
Individuals with implants, including metal pins, rods, or artificial joints (which generally reflect infrared energy), or silicone implants (which do absorb infrared energy). Consult your surgeon before use.
Individuals with a history of heat stroke, heat stress, dizziness, fainting, narcolepsy, or seizures
Individuals taking prescription medications including diuretics, beta-blockers, cardiac drugs, antihistamines, anticholinergic or antimuscarinic medications, or barbiturates, as these can impair the body's natural heat loss mechanisms and increase susceptibility to heat illness
Who should not use the Breathesuite without specific medical clearance:
Individuals with severe hypertension or active tuberculosis (particularly relevant to salt therapy)
Individuals currently running a fever
Individuals with insensitivity to heat
Individuals with hemophilia or who are prone to bleeding
Individuals who have consumed alcohol or stimulant substances
Additional considerations:
Do not use the sauna if you have a recent acute joint injury. Wait at least 48 hours after an injury, or until heat and swelling have fully resolved. Joints that are chronically hot and swollen may respond poorly to heat and should not be subjected to vigorous heating of any kind.
Women may notice a temporary increase in menstrual flow when heat is applied to the lower back during their cycle. Some find this helpful for cramp relief; others prefer to skip sessions during that time. Both are completely valid choices.
If you have any of the conditions listed above and wish to use the Breathesuite, we require a signed physician letter on official letterhead confirming that your provider is aware of the nature of infrared sauna, halotherapy, and red light therapy use, and that they support your participation.
Stop your session immediately and seek medical attention if you experience any of the following:
Sudden or severe fatigue
Nausea or dizziness
Lightheadedness, fainting, or near-fainting
Shortness of breath
Cessation of sweating accompanied by dry, hot skin
Chest pain, pressure, tightness, or a racing heart
An unusual period of irritability, malaise, or flu-like symptoms during or after a session
For a complete list of safety and medical considerations, please visit our Safety and Medical Considerations FAQ section.
Can I take my phone in with me?
We strongly discourage bringing phones or electronic devices into the sauna. Infrared heat can damage batteries, screens, and internal components, even if the device appears unaffected at first.
In addition, sauna sessions are intended to support relaxation and restoration. Leaving devices outside helps protect your belongings and allows you to fully disconnect and enjoy the experience.
Holistique is not responsible for damage to personal electronics brought into the sauna.
Do I need eye protection?
For the infrared sauna and halotherapy portions of your session, eye protection is not required.
For the Red Light Therapy tower, you should never look directly into the light panels during a session. The tower is a fixed panel and is not positioned near or directed at the face, so most guests will not need eyewear. However, if you have pre-existing light sensitivity, a diagnosed eye condition, or simply prefer an added layer of comfort, you are welcome to bring your own light-blocking goggles designed for red or near-infrared exposure. Holistique does not provide eyewear.
If you experience any discomfort with your eyes during a session, step away from the tower or discontinue use and let our team know.
As always, Holistique does not diagnose, treat, or provide medical clearance. If you have specific concerns about light exposure and your eye health, your healthcare provider is the right person to guide you.
How are the saunas cleaned, and what should guests do after use?
Cleanliness and care of the sauna environment are a shared responsibility. Our team performs daily cleaning of all sauna rooms and common touchpoints, and we ask guests to assist with simple post-session care to help maintain the space throughout the day.
Sanitizing wipes:
Guests are welcome to use the provided sanitizing wipes on appropriate non-wood surfaces such as door handles, control panels, benches with protective coverings, and other touchpoints. Please avoid using sanitizing wipes directly on raw wood surfaces.
Wood surfaces:
The wood inside the sauna should only be wiped down with the provided towels. Towels may be used to gently wipe and dry seating areas and backrests after your session. This helps preserve the integrity and longevity of the wood.
Why this matters:
Infrared saunas operate at elevated temperatures in a dry heat environment. Heat and low humidity help reduce moisture, which can limit bacterial growth. However, heat alone does not replace proper surface cleaning. Routine wiping and responsible product use remain essential for maintaining a hygienic space.
We appreciate your partnership in keeping the sauna clean, safe, and welcoming for every guest.
Can I use all three modalities at the same time?
Yes, and for most of your session you will be enjoying all three simultaneously. There is one simple sequencing step to be aware of when using the Red Light Therapy tower.
The halogenerator (the device that produces the salt aerosol) and the Red Light Therapy tower should not run (be turned on) at the same time (together), so we recommend the following sequence for a full combined session:
Start your session with both the infrared sauna and the halogenerator running together. Allow the suite to warm up and the salt aerosol to fill the space for the first 10 to 15 minutes.
When you are ready to use the Red Light Therapy tower, simply turn the halogenerator off first, then activate the tower for the remaining portion of your session.
If you prefer to use the Red Light Therapy tower as a stand-alone session without the sauna or salt therapy, you can activate it independently at any time.
